About Main Street Tycoon

Want a game like Monopoly® you can play online with friends without everyone installing an app or making an account? Main Street Tycoon opens straight to the private room screen: type a name, create a room, and send the invite link by text, Discord, or WhatsApp. Friends open it, pick a color, and the game starts when everyone is seated — up to six players.

Mixed devices are fine — one player on an iPhone, another on a Chromebook, another on a desktop. Turn clocks keep the game moving, and if someone has to leave, a bot takes over their seat so the rest of the table can finish. House rules like free parking cash, auctions, and starting money are set by the host before the game begins.

How to play

  • Enter your name and pick a color, then create a private room.
  • Copy the invite link (or read out the short room code) and send it to your friends.
  • Friends open the link, type a name, and join — no account needed on either end.
  • The host starts the game when everyone is in; empty seats can be filled with bots.

Frequently asked questions

How many friends can play?

Private rooms seat two to six players. Any seats you don't fill with friends can be filled with bots so the game starts right away.

Do my friends need an account or an app?

No. The invite link opens the game in their browser. They type a name and join — nothing to install, nothing to sign up for.

What happens if someone disconnects?

Their seat is kept for them. If they don't come back, a bot plays their turns so the game keeps going, and the turn clock stops one absent player from stalling the table.

Is it really free?

Yes. Main Street Tycoon is free to play online with friends, with no paid tiers required to host a room.

Is this Monopoly?

It is an original property trading board game in the same family — dice, streets, houses and hotels, trading, bankruptcy — but with its own board, cards, and rules. It is not affiliated with Hasbro.
