About Word of the Day

This page opens Word of the Day in unlimited mode: a fresh five-letter word every time you finish, as many rounds as you like, with no daily limit. If you love the Wordle® formula but one puzzle a day is not enough, this is the endless version — free, in your browser, no account.

The rules are the ones you already know. Five guesses, green for a correct letter in the right spot, yellow for a letter that is in the word but elsewhere, gray for letters that are not in the word. Your daily streak and stats live on the daily puzzle; unlimited mode is pure practice, so play as fast and loose as you like.

How to play

  • Type a real five-letter word and press Enter to guess.
  • Green: right letter, right spot. Yellow: right letter, wrong spot. Gray: not in the word.
  • Use the clues to narrow it down within five guesses.
  • Solved it or ran out? Tap New Game for another word — instantly, forever.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Wordle unlimited?

It is an unlimited-play word guessing game in the same style — five letters, five guesses, colored clues — with a new word every round instead of one per day. Word of the Day is an original, independent game and is not affiliated with The New York Times.

Do unlimited games count toward my streak?

No. Streaks and win statistics are tied to the shared daily puzzle so they mean the same thing for everyone. Unlimited mode is for practice and for when you just want to keep playing.

How many words are there?

The answer list holds hundreds of common five-letter words, and every valid English five-letter word is accepted as a guess. You will not see the same answer twice in a row.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes. It works in any modern mobile browser with an on-screen keyboard, and you can add it to your home screen to open it like an app.
